Resin Infusion
Resin infusion is a closed moulding process where liquid resin is drawn through a dry laminate of glass or other fibres using vacuum pressure. It produces stronger, lighter parts with superior fibre-to-resin ratios.
Fibreglass Open Moulding
Open moulding involves applying hand-laid or spray-up fiberglass and resin onto a single-sided mould. It's a cost-effective method, and Lightwave enhances consistency and efficiency through robotic application on high-volume projects.
Patterns, Plugs & Composite Tooling
Lightwave provides in-house pattern, plug, and tooling development, utilising advanced CNC machining to deliver highly accurate moulds that bring your product to life with consistent, repeatable quality.
Composite Design & Engineering

Light Resin Transfer Moulding (LRTM)
Light RTM is a closed moulding process using A and B moulds with vacuum to infuse resin through dry fibre, creating smooth surfaces & consistent thickness —ideal for parts requiring cosmetic or assembly-critical finishes on both sides.
Composite Painting & Finishing

Assembly & Fitout

Our Story
Lightwave Group began in 1996 with a focus on designing and building high-performance sailing catamarans under the Lightwave Yachts brand. To date, we’ve proudly delivered over 100 custom-built catamarans, continuing our legacy in the marine industry.
In 2007, we expanded into composite manufacturing under Lightwave Composites. Since then, we've produced more than 400,000 composite parts across a wide range of projects—from wastewater treatment tanks to 140-foot commercial ferries—serving both local and international clients. Our expert team brings decades of hands-on experience in composite manufacturing, delivering high-quality results on time, on budget, and to world-class standards.
Driven by strong growth across both divisions, in 2020 Lightwave Group established a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Yatala—one Gold Coast’s premier industrial precincts. Spanning over 3,000 sqm of factory space, with integrated offices and dedicated outdoor storage, this facility underpins our continued innovation and expansion.
